Chubb promotes three executives to lead global claims operations

Chubb has promoted three executives within its global claims organization, according to Reinsurance News, which first reported the appointments. Insurance Journal, Business Insurance, and Insurance Business Magazine all covered the story, with Business Insurance noting the locations and prior titles of two of the three.

What changed

Lisa Wilson becomes Head of North America Claims, effective immediately, taking responsibility for commercial and personal lines claims handling, technical execution, and the integration of digital tools into claims processes. She joined Chubb in 2023 and had been serving as Deputy Head of North America Claims. Before Chubb, she led coverage and complex claims work and served as Division President of Brandywine Holdings, overseeing legacy and runoff claims. She reports to both Kevin Rampe, Senior Vice President and Global Claims Officer, and Juan Luis Ortega, Executive Vice President and President of North America Insurance.

Rampe said of Wilson: "Lisa has been instrumental in providing a best-in-class claim experience to North America clients and partners. She has a proven track record leading teams with service and technical distinction, and I am confident her leadership will help us expand upon Chubb's legacy of claims excellence."

Jamie Trish, based in Chicago according to Business Insurance, takes on the role of Global Claims Operations Officer from October 26. She will set operational priorities, service standards, and operating models across Chubb's claims infrastructure worldwide. Trish joined Chubb in 2024 as Claims Transformation Officer and later served as Global Transformation Officer. Her earlier career included the presidency of Fairmatic (now LEEO) and senior roles at Allstate Business Insurance and Liberty Mutual.

Norm Rafsol, based in New York, becomes Global Claims Technical Director, also effective immediately. Business Insurance reported he joined Chubb in 2007 and had most recently served as head of financial lines claims. Insurance Business Magazine noted his role will include strengthening how Chubb monitors and reports on material claims developments across its global book.

Why it matters

The three appointments together cover distinct layers of claims leadership: Wilson owns the North America client-facing operation, Trish owns the global infrastructure and vendor relationships, and Rafsol owns technical standards and oversight. Structuring it this way gives Rampe a cleaner division of accountability across a function that touches every line of business Chubb writes.

For brokers and risk managers who place business with Chubb, the practical question is whether these changes affect day-to-day claims handling or service contacts. The appointments are internal promotions and role clarifications rather than outside hires, which suggests continuity rather than a strategic pivot. Wilson's mandate to embed digital capabilities into claims processes is the one signal worth watching: carriers that move claims handling onto digital platforms tend to see faster cycle times but also more disputes over automated coverage decisions, and how Chubb manages that balance will matter to commercial policyholders with complex claims.

What the reports do not establish is whether any of these roles were newly created or previously held by others, or whether the restructuring reflects a response to claims volume, loss trends, or a specific operational gap.
