Allianz Commercial names Swiss Re's Nina Arquint as EMEA president
By Insurance Wire Staff, . Insurance Wire.
Allianz Commercial has appointed Nina Arquint as president of its EMEA commercial business, with a start date of April 1, 2027, according to Coverager. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
Arquint will be responsible for Allianz Commercial's large and mid-corporate business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She will join the Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty board of management and report to Allianz Commercial CEO Thomas Lillelund.
She comes from Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, where she has served as CEO for the UK and Ireland since June 2025. Before that role, Coverager notes, she led Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' EMEA business and served as its chief risk officer, giving her a cross-regional track record that spans both underwriting leadership and risk governance.
Lillelund was quoted by Coverager saying the appointment is "a critical step" toward Allianz Commercial's stated ambition of becoming "the most trusted commercial insurer in the market," and cited her "proven track record of delivering sustainable growth and business transformation" across EMEA.
The hire lands at a moment when Allianz Commercial has been running a multi-year pricing and underwriting transformation across its priority lines, as Coverager also noted. Whether Arquint's mandate will include accelerating or reshaping that programme is not established by the available reporting.
For brokers and large corporate clients operating across EMEA, the practical question is continuity of relationships and appetite during the leadership transition. A near-two-year gap between announcement and effective date is unusually long, which likely reflects both the regulatory approval process across multiple jurisdictions and the complexity of extracting a sitting CEO from an existing role. That runway also gives Allianz Commercial time to manage the handover without disrupting live accounts, though it equally means the EMEA leadership structure will carry an element of uncertainty until Arquint formally takes the chair.
What the reporting does not establish is who currently holds the EMEA president role, or whether the position is being filled from a vacancy or created new. Professionals with significant EMEA placements through Allianz Commercial should watch for any interim structural announcements in the period before April 2027.
