CLARA Analytics launches agentic AI platform for casualty and workers' comp claims

CLARA Analytics, based in Sunnyvale, California, has launched a product it calls Agentic Intelligence, an AI agent layer embedded within its CLARAty.ai platform for complex casualty and workers' compensation claims. Insurance Innovation Reporter broke the announcement, drawing on a company statement and quotes from CLARA's leadership.

The core proposition, as CLARA describes it, is a shift from surfacing insights to recommending and helping execute next steps. AI agents are placed on every claim file from first notice of loss through resolution, continuously monitoring how a claim is developing and flagging exposure issues, changes in severity, litigation potential, fraud risk and closure opportunities. Adjusters retain authority over all claim decisions; the agents are positioned as a support layer rather than a decision-making one.

CEO Heather H. Wilson is quoted by Insurance Innovation Reporter as saying the platform gives adjusters "a partner that reviews claims data and documents to surface real-time changes in severity, litigation potential, fraud risk and closure opportunities." Chief Product Officer Mubbin Rabbani is quoted saying the company is "delivering measurable, quantitative financial and business outcomes" and that insurers get "turn-key access to an advanced AI workforce backed by robust guardrails and human validation."

According to Insurance Innovation Reporter, the platform is powered by self-learning data pipelines and a dataset of more than seven million claims spanning ten years. CLARA says the agents can resolve missing data in real time, reduce manual coding, and provide adjusters and actuarial professionals with full transparency into scoring rationale, data freshness, cohort context and the lineage behind each recommendation.

The transparency features are worth noting. One persistent criticism of AI in claims handling has been the black-box problem: adjusters and regulators alike have pushed back on systems that produce scores without explaining them. CLARA's emphasis on glossary definitions, metric ownership, versioning and conversational deep dives across structured and unstructured data appears aimed directly at that concern. Whether those features satisfy regulatory scrutiny in jurisdictions with emerging AI governance requirements for insurance is not established by the reporting.

The target customer base spans insurance carriers, managing general agents, reinsurers, third-party administrators and self-insured organizations, according to Insurance Innovation Reporter. That breadth is notable: workers' compensation and casualty claims are handled across all of those segments, and the platform's positioning as a workforce tool rather than a point solution suggests CLARA is competing for enterprise-level adoption rather than departmental pilots.

The harder question for buyers is outcomes evidence. CLARA's statement references "measurable, quantitative financial and business outcomes" but the reporting does not include specific performance figures, client case studies or independent validation. Carriers evaluating the platform will want to see that data before committing.

CLARA Analytics is scheduled to demonstrate Agentic Intelligence at ITC Vegas from September 29 through October 1, and will participate in a September 30 session with Nationwide titled "Stop Leaving Claims Risk on the Table," according to Insurance Innovation Reporter. That session may be the first public forum where more concrete outcome data is presented.

For claims leaders and technology buyers, the product is worth tracking. The combination of a large proprietary claims dataset, real-time data resolution and an explicit human-in-the-loop design addresses several of the objections that have slowed AI adoption in complex claims. What remains to be seen is whether the outcomes evidence matches the architecture.
