Boston Mutual Life Adds Southeast Sales Director to Grow Broker Network
By Insurance Wire Staff, . Insurance Wire.
Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company, a Canton, Massachusetts-based insurer, has named Sean Duggan its Regional Sales Director for Georgia and Northeast Florida, according to Insurance Innovation Reporter. The role puts Duggan in charge of workplace-benefits sales across Georgia and a Florida territory running from Jacksonville to Gainesville, with a focus on deepening ties with existing brokers and building new producer relationships.
What the role covers
Workplace benefits, sometimes called voluntary benefits, are insurance products, such as life, disability or accident coverage, that employees choose and often pay for themselves through payroll deductions. Employers offer them as part of a benefits package, and brokers are the main channel through which insurers like Boston Mutual Life reach those employers.
Duggan arrives with more than 20 years in sales, leadership, marketing and brand development, with a heavy focus on voluntary workplace benefits. He joins from Assurity, where he held the title of Regional Vice President and led market development and broker-network expansion along the Gulf Coast. Earlier in his career he held sales roles at Cosaint Benefits, Aflac and Colonial Life.
He is a member of the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals and previously served as president of its South Atlanta chapter, and he also belongs to the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network.
What the company said
Jack Douglas, Executive Vice President of Sales at Boston Mutual Life, said Duggan's background made him a strong fit for the region's needs. "Sean's workplace benefits expertise, paired with his strong relationship-building skills, will be essential to Boston Mutual Life's growth plans," Douglas said. "His experience and insights will be a significant factor in helping brokers in Georgia and Florida find insurance solutions that match their clients' needs, especially for the markets we serve."
Duggan said he was focused on building long-term producer relationships. "I'm thrilled to be a part of the Boston Mutual Life sales team and continue to create and foster long-standing relationships with producers in the region," he said. "I am looking forward to working with our broker partners to align what their clients and their employees are searching for with our workplace insurance benefits."
What to watch
The Southeast, and Georgia in particular, has been a competitive territory for voluntary benefits carriers as employers in the region expand their benefits offerings. Whether Boston Mutual Life can convert Duggan's existing broker relationships into new business will be the practical test of the hire. Brokers and general agents operating in Georgia and Northeast Florida are the professionals most directly affected, and those who have not yet worked with the carrier may hear from Duggan's team in the near term.
