- Carriers Hurricane Lowell insured losses estimated at $0.5B, $1B, Kauai hardest hit
Cotality has put insured losses from Hurricane Lowell at between $0.5 billion and $1.0 billion, with Kauai County bearing the brunt of the damage. The storm passed just west of Niihau as a Category 2 hurricane, bringing hurricane-force gusts, flooding rain, and destructive surf. The estimate, reported by Carrier Management, marks a significant event for a market where Hawaiian wind and flood exposure is rarely stress-tested at this scale.
