AAI Adds AI Layer to Agency Analytics With Agency Gauge Launch
By Insurance Wire Staff, . Insurance Wire.
Affordable American Insurance, a Westminster, Colorado-based network that supports independent property and casualty agencies across more than 40 states, has launched a product called Agency Gauge that adds artificial intelligence guidance to its existing analytics dashboard. Insurance Journal carried the announcement on October 19, 2026.
The core idea is straightforward: agency owners already had access to AAI's proprietary data dashboard, which tracked performance figures across their book of business. Agency Gauge sits on top of that and attempts to answer the question the numbers alone do not answer, which is what to do about them.
According to the announcement, the tool generates an AI-produced executive summary that recommends actions on client retention, identifies households that carry only one policy and may be candidates for additional coverage, and flags anomalies in new business concentration. It also alerts owners when agency management system quoting errors appear or when producer licenses are within 60 days of expiring.
Chris Fernandez, President and Chief Executive Officer of AAI, described the intent plainly: "Our analytics already gave owners a clear view of their agencies. Agency Gauge adds what comes next: understanding what the numbers mean, how they compare with true peers, and what to do about it. The decisions stay with the owner."
The peer benchmarking component is worth noting for what it actually compares. Rather than measuring an agency against broad industry averages, Agency Gauge is designed to compare results against similarly sized agencies within the AAI network itself. That is a narrower and potentially more useful benchmark for an owner trying to understand whether their retention rate or quote-to-bind ratio reflects a real problem or simply the conditions of their market.
AAI was founded in 2005 and describes itself as a scaled network platform that provides independent agencies with centralized operational, legal and technology support, carrier appointments, and commission and profit-sharing programs. Agency Gauge is available exclusively to agencies already in that network, which means it is not a standalone product and cannot be purchased separately.
The announcement does not establish how the AI recommendations are generated, what data sources feed the benchmarking, or how the tool performs in practice relative to the manual review an experienced agency principal would conduct. Those are questions that will be answered over time as agencies use it, and they matter because AI-generated business guidance is only as useful as the model behind it.
For agency owners already in the AAI network, the immediate question is whether the executive summary and benchmarking outputs are specific enough to act on, or whether they surface the same observations a careful owner would reach independently. For carriers that partner with AAI, a network of agencies with better visibility into their own quoting and retention patterns could mean cleaner data and fewer surprises at renewal.
